Held at the Yard Gallery, I Shot Norman Foster featured 5 photographers
(Olivia Beasley, Poppy de Villeneuve, Norbert Schoerner, Chris
Steele-Perkins, Jemima Stehli and Richard Wentworth), each assigned a
Foster and Partners’ building to produce new works.
We designed the identity, signage and window design
and devised the system for hanging the works. We wanted to create an
identity that would emphasise the drama of the title. The target symbol
was derived from the concentric circles found on the barrel of a camera
lens, and is indicative of a target found on a
shooting range. These targets were repeated across the windows of the
gallery in a Pop Art fashion. The identity went across the large gates
into the gallery space.
The wall was painted dark grey and the photographs hung using magnets.
We designed a 12 page catalogue for the exhibition consisting of essays
and interviews with the photographers. The dust jacket is a poster of
the photographs in order that the reader can view a mini version of the
exhibition while reading the texts.
