Material Beliefs
Project info

Having worked on the identity, printed material and website in 2007, we were commissioned to design a publication to document the Material Beliefs project. The book documents the entire project in chronological order, from first proposals for funding, through to prototypes.

Elements of the design of the book make reference to Scientific Notebooks which one of the collaborators came across during the project, which feature radiused corners and utilitarian typographic covers. Each notebook has a unique number and is ‘checked-out’ of the lab; inspired by this each Material Beliefs publication is editioned on the spine.

Inside there are four 2-colour sections for each part of the book, and a 4-colour image section. A strict referencing structure is followed throughout the book and reflected through the design.
